Evolution of PC Audio as told by Secret of Monkey Island

The Monkey Island series of games is tres amazing and brilliant … which meant they kept making them over a long period of time as audio technology developed AND they kept recording new versions of the theme song. Play to hear the theme songs created over two decades.

Love you Guybrush Threepwood!

Ben Newman is Not Safe For Work

This is possibly the tamest of Ben Newman’s very not-safe-for-work art. Check out his website here and then buy some prints over here.

Um … check it at home also. Unless you work somewhere it’s okay to look up Pinocchio with a very big … nose.

Illustrators, get yourself a domain!

If you are an illustrator you should buy yourself a domain and put your work up.

Instead of mathew@gmail or mathew@hotmail, etc, you’ll have mathew@onthewall.com.au.

Instead of sending people to your blogspot, you can have your own domain!

It is incredibly easy:

Go to a domain registrar and register your domain name. Use your own name (like www.mathewferguson.com). It’ll cost about $28 for two years.

Go to Aussie Host and buy some webhosting for $16.95 per month.

They’ll send you all the details you need to get started.

Use Fantastico self-install scripts to install Wordpress.

Log in and get started.

Melbourne illustrator Jeremy Ley

Jeremy Ley, my friend and collaborator, is a bloody amazing illustrator. Above: Barney! The expression on Barney’s face is brilliant. Check out Jeremy’s site here and buy some limited edition signed prints direct from him in his shop. You can find the same work available in the On The Wall shop, too.

8-Bit Dr Horrible – sheer genius

I love love love Dr Horrible’s Sing-along Blog with a passion and now this brilliant imagining as a Nintendo game is making me ache for a game that never was.

This is one of the reasons the Web is such an amazing force in our lives. Back in the day, this never would have existed or could have. Now Dr Octoroc (Levi Buffum) can make these beautiful things and share them with the world. Check out Dr Horrible if YouTube take down the video.

Read his blog too — there are lots of cool 8-bit art, design and music things on there.
